Today, 2nd of June, we celebrate the International Sex Workers’ Day and for the occasion, within our online campaign, we are launching the video “Why Skopje deserves the Red Light Districts back?”
The video is aiming to show the benefits and positive aspects of sex work for sex workers through the history of old Skopje, where there were public brothels and red light districts where the “ladies of the night” worked and gave sexual services to their clients. For these facts, there are numerous records, artworks and permanent testimonies that authentically reflect the sex work in Old Skopje. The video also shows scenes from the past two events with an artistic performance by sex workers from Skopje Red Light District. The Red Light District is a symbol of solidarity and tolerance towards the oldest profession in the world.
The video was produced in partnership with HOPS – Healthy options project Skopje, TransFormA – An Initiative for Protection and Promotion of Transgender People’s Rights in North Macedonia and MDMF.
