This one-day training session aims to sensitise the healthcare professionals to become fully aware of transgender community’s specific healthcare needs in order to obtain knowledge and adapt the services offered to the community’s needs.
Eight representatives from the healthcare sector took part in the training. The one-day training was led by Lila Milic, representative of STAR-STAR Skopje and TransFormA as a mentor, Natasha Boskova, legal advisor of the Coalition MARGINS, and Igor Peev, research associate and doctor.
At today’s training, we have discussed the transgender people’s general needs for providing adequate services within the public healthcare system and continuous care for transgender people according to their gender identity and goals by setting healthcare standards for the community, as well as access to appropriate mental health treatments, hormone therapy and surgical treatments.
The training as a part of our project “Coordinated, Synchronized and Comprehensive Healthcare Services for Transgender People Undergoing Transition in the Republic of North Macedonia” was funded by Eurasian Key Populations Coalition (EKPC) in the framework of “Gender and HIV” grants.
