Research grounds

Sex workers are women, men and transgender persons who receive money or goods in exchange for sexual services, consciously engaging themselves in activities that generate income, even though they may not consider sex work as their profession.

Key objectives of the research:

– Data collection, perceptions and attitudes towards voluntary sex work and the legalization of sex work.
– Raising general population’s awareness about sex workers, sex work, as well as presenting the advantages and disadvantages of sex works legalization.

Based on the answers given, the majority of interviewees from all three scenes, i.e. the open scene, the closed one and the scene from Shuto Orizari, consider sex work equal to all other professions. The finances to secure a living, the dedication to their children, as well as the satisfaction of various needs are the main reasons why these individuals have started doing sex work. All of this clearly points to the fact that a broader and more specific promotion of sex work is necessary.

The day-to-day life of sex workers, in actual fact, is not different from that of anyone else in the general population, however, the general population claims that sex workers are people who have taken no responsibilities and that they cannot be good and dedicated parents.
