( VIDEO ) Unique initiative of sex workers in Macedonia

We do believe that mobilization and integration of male and transgender sex workers in activities that help improve the sexual and reproductive health would have significant contribution to the secondary healthcare. Sex workers appear to be one of the best peer educators taking care of their own as well the health of their clients.
GMT Mobilization and Integration to improve the Secondary Health System project supported in whole with GMT Initiative Community Award funding from amfAR, The Foundation for
AIDS Research – is a unique initiative of sex workers in Macedonia which implements activities aimed at male population including gay, male and transgender sex workers and their clients of Macedonian, Albanian and Roma nationality.

Male and transgender sex workers are particularly vulnerable to mistreatment and discrimination based not only on their involvement in sex work, but also on ethnic origin, gender or sexual orientation, due to xeno-, trans- and homophobia still prevalent in conservative Macedonian society, and reflected in lack of specific non-discriminatory laws or regulations, protecting this key populations.
