The ESWA’s first Congress for sex workers in Europe and Central Asia

In the period between 10th and 13th of October 2022, ESWA – European Sex Workers Alliance is organising its first Congress in Brussels for all sex workers and allies working or living in Europe and Central Asia.

With dozens of workshops on sex workers’ rights, legal frameworks, access to justice, health or digital rights; a public conference and event at European Parliament, ESWA’s Congress will be an amazing opportunity for sex workers from across Europe and Central Asia to meet each other, network, strategise and develop their capacities to continue the fight for sex workers’ rights!

The Congress will also include its first members’ General Assembly, a hybrid event where members of ESWA will be able to engage further with the work of ESWA and for sex worker-led members to vote on activity and financial reports, as well as propose changes to ESWA’s priorities and ways of working.

In order to enable the presence of a larger number of sex workers at the Congress, and to make sure that as many voices as possible are represented from different regions of Europe and Central Asia, as well as those who experience additional forms of marginalisation or discrimination, ESWA is launching an online campaign An Act of Congress to raise money for support.

As part of their fundraising campaign, anyone who wants can donate by purchasing a calendar with photos of the sex workers community, which STAR contributed to its creation with a photo of the Red Umbrella March 2021, as well as jewelry, bags, and/or t-shirts, thereby helping as much as possible members of the sex worker community to participate in the Congress. This money will cover costs including accommodation, food and travel.

About 200 participants from Europe and Central Asia, representatives of member organizations, including two representatives of STAR-STAR Skopje, will attend the first ESWA Congress.
