This year, STAR-STAR joins the European HIV Testing Week, taking place 15 – 22 May 2023.
During the spring campaign of ETW, STAR-The first sex workers collective in the Balkans, with the support of HERA – Health Education and Research Association, every day from 15-19 May, from 10:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m., in the office premises will provide the sex worker community with the opportunity for free and confidential HIV self-testing and counselling and/or the opportunity to pick up HIV self-tests. The activity aims of making HIV testing more accessible to sex workers community. European Testing Week is a European campaign that encourages partner organisations — in community, health care and policy institutions — throughout Europe to unite for one week twice a year to increase testing efforts and promote awareness on the benefits of earlier hepatitis and HIV testing. This initiative has progressed since its start in 2013 and has grown to be a widely recognised European event with hundreds of organisations participating every year. What once started as an annual event has now become a biannual event with two ETWs occurring each year in Spring (May) and Autumn (November). The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about the importance and benefits of early testing for HIV, viral hepatitis and STIs, and to increase access to testing.
