On 21 June, the Swedish Parliament is set to vote on a proposal that includes ramping up penalties for the clients of sex workers from a fine to a prison sentence, ie for the purchase of sexual services.
In response, the Red Umbrella Sweden, Swedish community and advocacy for sex workers, and member organization of The European Sex Workers’ Rights Alliance (ESWA) has issued an international call out to protest in Stockholm on 21 May.
Red Umbrella Sweden have also launched a GoFundMe to cover the costs of the demonstration planned for May 21st, 2022, and online protest campaign against harmful laws targeting sex workers.
In the meantime, a petition “Say NO to Increased Criminalisation in Sweden!” has been launched and can be signed at the following link: https://www.eswalliance.org/support_sex_workers_in_sweden.
Support sex workers in Sweden by signing and sharing the petition!
