In the period October 2022 – April 2023, STAR-STAR has conducted 20 interviews with sex workers in North Macedonia, in order to collect data on the difficulties and challenges that sex workers face in the access to justice, focusing on the relationship between sex workers and police.
The research ACCESSING JUSTICE: THE ROLE OF POLICING IN SEX WORKERS’ ACCESS TO JUSTICE is part of the FPAR (Feminist Participatory Action Research) project, through which 10 grants were awarded to 10 ESWA member organizations, including STAR-STAR, giving our organization the opportunity to conduct research with the community to share experiences with police in accessing justice.
This ESWA research aims to explore the experience of sex workers with the police in Europe and Central Asia and to ensure sex workers’ access to justice and state protection from violence and exploitation. The research is planned to be published in early 2024.
